What is a Charter School?
  • A charter school is a public school that operates based on a written charter, or contract, that is approved by the local board of education and the Georgia Board of Education.
  • Charter schools are independently operated by parents, private individuals, community groups, non-profit boards, or local school districts to fill a need that may or may not be met at traditional public or private schools.
  • If Unidos' charter is approved this year it will become the first Dual Language Immersion Charter School in the state of Georgia.  The first public school to teach in both English and Spanish; the first school to embrace the values of bilingualism, biliteracy, and multiculturalism.
